Lucked Out

The Year of the Tiger is a year for finding the courage to actualize and for stopping violence on earth.

In Chinese culture, the cardinal direction of the West is represented by the White Tiger of the Autumn Equinox. It is also a Kunlun creature of Chinese mythology, in the land of the immortals hidden somewhere in its highest mountains. The tiger represents seeking true love, humanitarian causes, idealism, independence, loyalty, stubbornness, and a tendency for impulsiveness.

The couple is safe inside the tiger’s hillslope, looking up at the rain falling. The tiger’s ears are pricked back in calm attention and its tail playfully flicks back and forth (the Joshua tree’s silhouette). The bonsai roots and prairie grasses form the tiger’s stripes. Its nose is a bird landing on its perch.
