Hello teacher, I'm Kimi in class B
Today I am going to interview my mother. The topic is my childhood memories with my family.
ok Mom you can start now
What I want to say today is when I was a child, I loved talking to my parents the most
and my sister
During the Tomb Sweeping Festival, we'd go back to dad's hometown in Huwei, Yunlin.
Over there Dad had a big bamboo forest that grew shoots.
I remember during the festival, bamboo shoots were always in peak season
So there was always more of them than we could eat
Endless bamboo shoot soup
And when we'd go back there, because of Qingming grave sweeping
There were the even more delicious so-called spring rolls
children must be children
my favorite was the peanut sugar powder in the spring rolls
I was no exception
Kimi, do you like peanut sugar powder?
K: not bad
Love it, right?
Every time just add a little more and a little more
So that was one of your mother's favorite foods back then.
So why did I like going back?
What really left an impression on me, my brother would take my sister and me-
I can't remember exactly where-I was small, after all
There was this sandy rock wall, with hole after hole after hole
I didn't know what it was
But my brother taught us how to climb up the holes in the sand
one by one
Thinking about it now, it's a lot like going rock climbing to you now
We were climbing like that, and my brother would tell us to check the holes one by one
What were we looking for?
and then inside the hole you can see little birds' eggs, round and small
It was a novelty for me and my sister at that time
at that time I found two of them
and my sister also found two not far away
Then as my sister was climbing down cautiously hold by hold,
She jumped down the last bit of the way
and crushed those two eggs of hers,
I was happy because I still had two little bird eggs in my hand,
but I didn't expect while laughing at her,
I'd crush the two bird eggs in my own hand
When we both got to the bottom,
my brother realized, eh, there are no more eggs.
So it was a pity that at the time; my sister and I both got two eggs,
But all were broken. After all we were little.
The strength of the hand wasn't stable enough
Later, I asked my brother what kind of bird egg it was.
My brother only told us that it was a swallow's egg.
What is the artwork about?
childhood memories and things he did as a kid, but which we can't do it now, so my mom is sharing her experience with us
What can you see in the picture?
I don't have a photo, but I used my mother's description to draw. My mother's description went like this – on a sandy wall she climbed up with her brother and sister to pick swallow eggs.
What was your goal when making this artwork?
I hoped to make it the most three-dimensional, most life-like, and most realistic
How do you want the viewer to feel when they look at your interview, transcript, and artwork?
I hope viewers can feel that my paintings are very similar to the story and very realistic.
What else do you want viewers to know about your artwork?
I very much hope that my work can be seen by people all over the world, and they can fall in love with it, or even buy it off me.
